Our Own Experiences

Favorite cultural/travel book

A Night Divided, by Jennifer A. Nielsen

The story of one family's dangerous struggle to reunite after the Berlin Wall is constructed overnight, this piece of historical fiction had us captivated.

Favorite travel-history lesson

How Hot Chocolate Arrived in Italy

Spanish secrecy, a merchant meets the Maya, and Casanova's pick-up scene. This story has got it all! Oh, and the hot chocolate is good, too.

Favorite slice of pie

∙ Sugar Cream Pie, My Sugar Pie, Zionsville, IN

Far sweeter than anything we'd normally consume, we loved this amazing pie for the experience of participating in Hoosier State tradition!

Favorite Third Wave coffee

∙ Nitro Cold Brew, Pilcrow Coffee, Milwaukee, WI

The Storyteller Cold Brew Coffee on Nitro was just one part of an amazing flight that also included Sweet N Creamy Coffee on Nitro, as well as Sparkled Chai Float (tea) and Tumeric Ginger on Nitro (tea). Pure love!

The Postal Project

Maybe we're just geeks, but how fun is this? You can check out post offices from all around the country... like this one in Wyoming.

Favorite travel tip

In other words, don't always let deals dictate your travel decisions. Humorous, but good advice from travel guru Rick Steves at the Travel & Adventure Show in Chicago.

Favorite blog post we've read

5 Things Nobody Told Me About Italy Before Visiting, by Miranda Knudtson

Remember the first time you went to Europe? And remember your shock at the restroom situation? Then you'll totally relate!
